Abstract

Fly ash, a large-tonnage solid waste of thermal power plants, has been
actively studied over the past decade as a raw material for various segments of the oil and
gas industry. This article analyzes the use of fly ash in well cementing, as a functional
filler for drilling fluids, in enhanced oil recovery, as a proppant and proppant coating, in
produced water treatment, and in foam-assisted liquid unloading from gas wells.
