Abstract

This paper addresses the numerical modeling of the gas filtration process under conditions of uneven well placement and spatial variation of reservoir properties. A non-linear partial differential equation describing one-dimensional unsteady gas filtration in a porous medium is formulated along with the corresponding initial-boundary value problem. The uneven and point-like distribution of wells across the reservoir is represented using the Dirac delta function. A numerical algorithm based on quasilinearization and an implicit finite-difference scheme is developed to solve the non-linear governing equation. The resulting system of tridiagonal linear algebraic equations is efficiently solved using the Thomas algorithm (sweep method). The developed algorithm allows for accurate estimation of the spatial-temporal pressure distribution and well interference in gas reservoirs.
