Automotive aerodynamics is a critical technical domain directly affecting fuel efficiency, stability, noise, and overall vehicle performance. This article analyzes the historical development of automotive aerodynamics from the 1920s to the present and examines future trends. The research was based on empirical data from 85 key vehicle models and CFD simulations in ANSYS Fluent 2023. Over the past 100 years, the average drag coefficient (Cd) improved from 0.75 to 0.28 — a 63% reduction. CFD simulations demonstrated that adding a diffuser reduces Cd by 6% while generating negative lift (Cl = –0.09). Future trends include active aerodynamic elements, AI-based generative design, and EV-specific optimized designs (Cd ≤ 0.20). Practical recommendations are provided for Uzbekistan’s automotive industry.
